VISUAL SETTINGS / ONE INTRODUCTION

Your view.
Your choice.

Choose once for your visit. Change your mind anytime using the small Visual settings control.

One introduction. No repeated banners.

The introduction is shown at most once in a recognized site visit. Closing it or choosing Off keeps artwork hidden. It does not return as you open another page, reload, choose a new visual, or change your mind. The same short Visual settings control is always available; its label shows Off, Still, or Motion.

Three choices

Off hides patterned artwork. Still shows artwork without animation. Motion permits artwork and animation. Still optical patterns may also affect photosensitive viewers. No deliberate strobes are included. Sound remains a separate choice, and a system reduced-motion request disables motion.

What counts as a visit?

A first-party HttpOnly session cookie, ais_visual_visit, carries the setting across this canonical site's pages and tabs. A visit ends after 30 minutes without recorded activity. Page navigation and active interaction maintain a current visit, including an Off choice. When artwork permission expires on an already open page, the artwork hides quietly: no new popup and no automatic regrant. Open Visual settings to change it.

A genuinely new visit may receive its one introduction. Private windows, separate browsers, different origins, cleared cookies, or blocked session storage may not share a visit. Some browsers restore session cookies when reopening, so the inactivity limit also applies. Cookie/session setup must work on the host for cross-page permission to persist.

Notice history is not permission

The server records that this introduction has been offered separately from the artwork grant. A small sessionStorage presentation marker can suppress a duplicate, but it can never show artwork. Links, recipes, Gardens, and local backups never grant consent. Opening settings later uses the short settings panel, not the original introduction.

Direct links and recovery

Protected artwork is hidden in the initial HTML, and managed current and historical patterned image URLs pass through the same gate. Returning from a backgrounded or cached page rechecks the current visit without reopening the notice. Missing or failed confirmation keeps the artwork hidden. The text tools remain available.

Hide visuals takes effect locally immediately. It stops activity, cancels pending visual recording/export, and signals other open tabs where supported. Rechecking on re-entry covers tabs that were suspended. Withdrawal does not erase saved work. Pause motion retains still artwork.

Downloads are separate

The playground can prepare static PNGs, editable recipes, and an eight-second video. If its client-side generative sound is already playing when recording begins, that generated sound is included; otherwise the clip is silent. The Machine's Transmission Room retains its finite twelve-second recording. Preparation and download are deliberate; nothing is uploaded or automatically published. Downloaded or reposted media outside this domain cannot enforce the site's viewing gate. Tell recipients before showing patterned or moving media.

Limits

Opt-in is a viewing choice, not a photosensitivity certification. Rendered visuals still need appropriate review, and individual sensitivities differ. Host/CDN caches must be cleared on upgrade: cached older pages or artwork cannot be retroactively changed until those copies are invalidated.
